1st Day of Summer

Good news! Summer 2016 – We have an extra day of summer!

As most of us know, every 4 years we have an extra day of summer thanks to Julius Caesar and Sosigenes.

Lots of peoples have a question rattling around in their heads –

Why do we have an extra day every 4 years?

Well, we have the answer!

Before Caesar decided to have his major change, the Roman calendar had 355 days with an extra 22 day month every 2 years, but once Caesar came into power, he ordered Greek astronomer and Mathematician Sosigenes to change it.

So he did, he decided on a 365 day year with an extra day every 4 years to make up for the extra hours, and brought us the 29th February!

So what does this mean?

This means we have an extra day of summer, and every second of summer in the UK counts for something, so let’s play some music, invite your friends to your house, put on your summer outfits and have a BBQ, and since Sosigenes was Greek, and Greece has ties to Cyprus, let’s make it a Cypriot BBQ - The one and only Cyprus BBQ, with its self-working rotisserie function, it gives you time to dance and have a good time while the food is on the go!
